The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
The competition is intense. The words are hilarious. Let the spelling begin! The show centers around a fictional spelling bee in Putnam County, New York. Six kids face off in the battle of their lives. They compete against each other as well as members of the audience. Three adults help adjudicate the proceedings: a nostalgic former spelling bee winner, a mildly insane Vice Principal and The Official Comfort Counselor completing his community service to the state of New York.

Set in rural Ireland, Friel’s memory play depicts the lives of the five women who raised him, his mother and four maiden aunts. In the late summer days of 1936, love still seems possible for the Mundy sisters. The appearances of his wandering father, missionary uncle, and the family’s first radio serve as the small events from which spring the cracks that destroy the foundation of the family forever. A haunting tribute to the spirit and valor of the past. |

This is a delightful musical spoof based on Tim Kelly’s enormously popular hit “The Butler Did It.” Miss Maple, a flaky society dowager, invites a pack of zany detective writers to a spooky house on an isolated island and forces them to impersonate their fictional sleuths. She also arranges for some “scary” things to happen to her guests. What she did not arrange was the body on the sitting room carpet! It's up to seedy Chandler Marlowe to solve the bizarre case and he makes a side-splitting mess of it! Ultimately, everyone has a guilty secret to confess and the real killer turns out to be the least suspected. |
